Hello! This is the official website and art store of Viciousbumblebee. Otherwise known as Kimmo Brusila, an imaginer from Finland.
You’ve probably ran into my sketchbook pages somewhere online? I’ve developed a sketchy drawing style with a ballpoint pen and it has resulted into a lot of surreal horror imagery. I’ve drawn as far back I can remember, but it was motly a pastime until a few years ago when it more serious. Even early on, I remember being captivted by comic and manga art styles that stood out from the rest - not necessarily being technically better but with an unique look.
I’ve been working on a movie project alongside my drawing venture, so a lot of my inspirations come from movies as much as anywhere else. There's an especially strong influence of body horror cinema on my artwork. I'm particularly curious about ”the monstrous”: abnormal appearances and conditions have an appeal beyond the surface, no pun intended.
I do have many ideas where I take my artwork in the future. Currently I’m hoping to close the most recent chapter of drawing with a book production.
Thank you for visting my site!
Frequently asked questions
- Why the ballpoint pen?
I eventually switched from pencil to ballpoint pen, because I wanted something with a stronger impression, yet more variety compared to fineliner pens. It allows me to draw without a pencil draft and I tend to finish my sketchbook drawings within on sitting (2-4 hours).
- Why the name ”Viciousbumblebee”?
I wanted to mix two words for a profile name, with some humor. I used to have a childhood picture as my profile picture and very blonde hair. It got me looking through hues of yellow and discovered ”bumblebee”. I thought I needed something that also described what I drew and that got my ”vicious”.
